This year more the 10,000 itikaf performers are expected to stay in Masjid-e-Nabwi, arrangements have been made to suit people during their stay in Prophets Mosque.
Itikaf is an Islamic practice consisting of a period of spiritual retreat in a mosque especially during the last 10 days of Ramadan and it is a Sunnah (Tradition) of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

In this year 2021, the blessed month of Ramadan, which is expected at the end of April, the Mu’takif (those come to Masjid for Itikaf) will be permitted to do so just on the top floor of the Prophet’s Mosque.
Haj Committee in Madinah has endorsed the board’s proposal to make plans on the roof of the Prophet’s Mosque for Itikaf and apportioning the ground floor of the mosque for prayers and Taraweeh only.

Leading the gathering of the board of trustees in Madinah, Prince Faisal focused on the significance of attempting to address the burden brought about by certain guests who take personal belongings inside the Prophet’s Mosque and spot them in the wrong places infringing upon the rules with respect to Itikaf.
The emir has asked that a working group be made to build up an incorporated system, as well as online registration for itikaf to direct the procedure of enrollment of people who plan to perform Itikaf in the Prophet’s Mosque.
Prior, the Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques had propelled an online enrollment system for imminent Muslims proposing to perform Itikaf at the Grand Mosque in Makkah where the basement of the King Fahd development zone of the mosque is reserved for Itikaf.
