Masmak Fort Historical Museum Riyadh

The Masmak Fort حصن المصمك is important historical landmarks in the kingdom, and occupies a prominent place in the history of the city of Riyadh in particular, and Saudi Arabia in general, as it represents the blessed breakthrough that has been evacuated establishment and unification of the Kingdom, where combined this fort epic opening Riyadh heroic, achieved by King Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud mercy of Allah upon him at the dawn of the fifth month of Shawwal 1319 AH.
Musmak or Musmak mean building of thick high hippo-campus, built during the reign of Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Rashid (1289-1315h) and than restoration start during King Abdul Aziz mercy of Allah in 1319 AH, corresponding to 1902, it has been used later repository of ammunition and weapons, and remained used for this purpose after that it is decided to turn it into a heritage landmark, it represents a stages of the establishment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In 1400, the city of Riyadh secretariat has prepared a special study for the restoration of Musmak, then adopted later the Ministry of Education (represented by the Agency for assistance to the Antiquities and Museums) in coordination with the High Commission for the Development of Riyadh City program to convert this monument into a museum, shows the stages of the founding of the Kingdom by King Abdul Aziz , which was opened in early 1416, approved in 1995 under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh region.

The most important landmarks at Musmak Fort

The palace gate
The gate is located on the western side of the palace, and a height of 3.60 m, width 2.65 m, it is made from the trunks of palm trees and tamarind, and door thickness  is 10 cm,  three beams there on the door, a single thickness of which is about 25 cm, and in the middle of the door, there is a slot called الخوخة, use a small gate, and narrow to the point, it does not allow the passage of only one person hunched, this door has seen fierce battle between King Abdul Aziz and his opponents, where you can see the harpoon, which broke her head in the door.

Council (Diwaniya)
Opposite the entrance, is a rectangular room  made according to the traditional form of Logar in the Najd region, and there is in the West End, includs openings for ventilation, and lighting, as well as in the South on the patio overlooking the President.
The mosque
It is located on the left of the entrance, a large room, where there are several columns, and walls of shelves to put the Koran, and there is a niche inside the mosque, and the air vents in the ceiling, and walls.
Well
In the north-east there is a water well, to pulls water through the assigned mechanical system, the wellhead, and draw water by the bucket.

Towers
There is in every corner of the four Musmak building cylindrical tower shape, with a single height of (18 meters) almost up to by the drawer, then بسلمين of wood in each tower, walls of the tower have thickness of about ( 1.25 m), and in the middle of Musmak, square tower shape, called the square, overlooking the palace through the upper balcony.
There is also a courtyard chairman of the palace, surrounded by columns connected rooms together internally, and there is annihilation degrees on the eastern side leads to the first floor and surfaces, and there are three residential units, the first was used to establish the ruling, the integration and its relation to each other, and ease of contact with, and the second used beta for money, and the third dedicated to guests’ stay.
